    Description

South Carolina Event Production (SCEP), a subsidiary of The Post and Courier, is seeking a driven and creative Event Marketing Supervisor to lead the planning, execution, and promotion of a dynamic portfolio of annual events. This role owns the full event lifecycle from logistics and operations to multi-channel marketing strategy with a sharp focus on delivering high-quality experiences, maximizing attendance, and driving profitability. The position also serves as a key cross-functional partner, providing logistical and promotional support for events across the organization.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Event Operations & Logistics

    • Own end-to-end event logistics including venue selection, on-site setup/breakdown, catering, A/V, run of show, and vendor management.
    • Design creative event experiences that are both memorable and budget-conscious, ensuring every touchpoint from venue atmosphere to attendee flow reflects the brand.
    • Secure special event permits, collect vendor agreements and certificates of insurance, and serve as the internal expert advising other properties on compliance requirements.
    • Oversee event registration, manage the ticketing platform, and lead all attendee communications to ensure a seamless experience.

    Marketing & Promotion

    • Develop and execute comprehensive, multi-channel event marketing strategies that drive ticket sales, attendance, and brand engagement.
    • Create compelling promotional collateral across print, digital, and social channels.
    • Manage event websites and the Post and Courier event newsletter to build audience engagement and sustain momentum before, during, and after events.
    • Compile post-event reports analyzing key metrics and attendee feedback to continuously improve performance.

    Budget & Sponsorship

    • Manage event budgets with a profitability-first mindset, tracking expenses and reporting regularly on sales performance, project milestones, and progress toward GOP targets.
    • Collaborate with the sales team to develop attractive sponsorship packages and actively prospect for new partners and vendors.

    Cross-Functional & Community Support

    • Provide logistical and marketing support for events led by other departments, including community newspaper division initiatives statewide.
    • Establish and maintain an organized event storage system, including inventory tracking of equipment and supplies to ensure efficient access and accountability.
    • Build and cultivate relationships with vendors, event contractors, and volunteer groups to support multiple events throughout the year.
    • Distribute tickets for Post and Courier–sponsored events and coordinate catering for client entertainment in sponsored suites and internal meetings.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
    • Proven track record in event planning, event marketing, and project management with a strong portfolio.
    • Working knowledge of special event insurance requirements and permitting processes.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Highly organized self-starter with exceptional time-management and project-planning skills who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
    • Strong communicator with polished interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Proficient in MS Office, Google Suite, and marketing/ticketing platforms (e.g., Canva, Constant Contact, HubSpot).
    • Analytically minded with solid budget management and data interpretation skills.
    • Adaptable and eager to learn — comfortable pivoting quickly as priorities shift.

    Physical Requirements & Travel

    • Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 60 lbs for event setups (trade show booths, equipment, boxes).
    • Hybrid schedule with regular office presence, remote flexibility, and frequent on-site event coverage.
    • Occasional travel outside the market to support newspaper division events.
