About the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis
There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners, along with an elected county judge, serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court, the administrative head of the county's government. Commissioner Rodney Ellis represents the constituents of Precinct One.
With approximately 1.17 million residents, Harris County Precinct One is a diverse, urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct One's multi-racial, multi-ethnic population is roughly 33 percent African American, 38 percent Latino, 21 percent Anglo, 6 percent Asian and 2 percent other or multiple races. Precinct One stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precinct's territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston, including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex, Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex and the renowned Texas Medical Center. The Precinct is also the higher educational home to Houston Community College, Rice University, Texas Southern University, the University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One manages more than 21 parks, 10 community centers, numerous hike-and-bike trails, three maintenance service centers and several area offices, all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.

What you will do at Precinct One:
The Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff plays a critical role in supporting the Chief of Staff by providing executive calendar management, meeting preparation, and high-level stakeholder communications. This role will maintain a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Chief of Staff's Executive Liaison, supporting coordination and alignment to ensure the Chief of Staff is equipped to advance strategic and organizational priorities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Executive Support and Calendar Management:
Provide executive calendar management for the Chief of Staff, balancing internal and external commitments while ensuring alignment with key priorities
Manage meeting logistics including preparation of agendas, materials, and conference room reservations.
Collect and format briefing materials, ensuring accuracy and alignment with leadership standards
Support various organizational projects as assigned
Draft or edit written correspondence as needed.
Coordinate travel arrangements for the Chief of Staff.
Information and Records Management:
Develop systems to promote efficiency and knowledge sharing across the Chief of Staff's office and Administrative Services division.
Maintain archives of key documents and correspondence for future reference and institutional continuity
Internal and External Stakeholder Communication:
Serve as a key point of contact for the Chief of Staff's office, ensuring information flows effectively between the Chief of Staff, Commissioner's Engagement Team and internal divisions.
Partner with the Commissioner's Engagement Team to ensure seamless information flow between the Commissioner, Chief of Staff, and internal divisions by maintaining and tracking the internal systems used to route information, engagement requests, and approval needs to the leadership team.
Manage and track external stakeholder inquiries including correspondence between the Precinct, County Departments, and County Officials in a professional and timely manner.
Administrative Systems and Financial Coordination:
Develop and maintain a centralized calendar of events and engagements across the organization, providing visibility into key activities and milestones.
Track key assignments and approvals on Monday.com
Track departmental expenditures to ensure alignment with budgetary guidelines
Manage and reconcile expense reports, travel reimbursements, and purchase orders
Order and manage office supplies to ensure the Chief of Staff's office remains well equipped and organized
