Key Responsibilities:
This role offers a Chef work life balance they would not experience in leading a kitchen service in a restaurant. We have a strong dining service team with an experienced and supportive dining director. We are looking for a qualified Chef who is personable, has a positive attitude, is a team builder, has strong customer service skills, and wants to be part of a mission enhancing the lives of older adults.
- The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance in all dietary functions as directed/instructed and in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures.
- Manage a team of employees, coordinate and participate in effective food production, cooking, and service of high quality meals.
- Responsible for scheduling a team of employees, tracking inventory and ordering food and supplies and maintaining a clean and sanitary food service operation.
- Maintain good working relationships with inter-department personnel, and other departments within Park Place of Elmhurst to assure that food service can be properly maintained to meet resident needs.
- Assist in screening and interviewing a selection of dietary personnel.
- Establish a food service production line to ensure that meals are prepared on time.
- Complies with food service sanitation standards and proper food handling techniques.
- Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Chef.
- Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
- Formal culinary training and or certification is preferred but not required.
- Governing authority sanitation certification is required.
- Current Food Handlers Certification or Serve Safe Certification is required.
- 1+ years experience in a healthcare or senior living environment coordinating and supervising the efforts of food production staff, is preferred but not required.
- Pass a physical, drug screen, 50-pound lift test, fingerprint for criminal background and complete the orientation program.
- Previous experience as a Chef in Healthcare environment is a plus.
