Executive Director, Hospice Division
Location: Grand Rapids / West Michigan
Compensation: $95,000 – $165,000 annually
We’re looking for a hands-on, results-oriented Executive Director to lead our hospice division. This is a leadership role for someone who wants to shape high-quality end-of-life care while running a strong, compliant, and financially healthy operation. You’ll direct day-to-day hospice services, build and support a strong team, and ensure we meet the standards our patients, families, and the organization expect.
About the Role
You will set direction for the hospice program, translate goals into operational results, and keep the division aligned with both clinical excellence and sound business practices. You’ll work closely with the regional director and contribute to the broader organization’s success as an employee-owned company.
What You’ll Do
- Direct day-to-day hospice operations and serve as the primary liaison with the regional director, providing clear, timely reports.
- Own budgeting, financial performance, and goal achievement. Produce accurate financial statements and explain variances against plan.
- Ensure compliant, timely billing and collections in line with regulations and contract requirements.
- Oversee QAPI processes, data collection, and regular reporting to the Governing Body.
- Lead recruitment, retention, and supervision of qualified staff and volunteers so patients and families receive consistent, high-quality care.
- Ensure patients and families have access to appropriate management support during all hours of operation.
- Manage contracts for inpatient and respite care, medical supplies, drugs, biologicals, and medical appliances, and complete annual evaluations of key vendors and contracted providers.
- Partner with the Interdisciplinary Group on the annual evaluation of the hospice program.
- Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards; respond to internal and external reviews with effective corrective action; and keep licenses and certifications current.
- Ensure accurate public materials, proper handling of ethical issues that fall outside standard protocols, and appropriate admission, discharge, transfer, and revocation processes.
- Designate coverage in your absence and support the broader team as needed.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- At least three years of healthcare management experience within the last five years.
- Prior healthcare experience.
- Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance.
- Strong operational judgment, clear communication, and the ability to balance clinical standards with financial and regulatory realities.
What We Offer
- Weekly pay
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Life and short-term disability insurance
- Paid vacation
- 401(k)/Roth
- Paid training
- Employee referral bonuses
- Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP): After one year and 1,000 hours worked, the company contributes shares on your behalf at no cost to you, building additional retirement value simply by working here.

How We Work
Leadership is accessible when you need it. We expect people to speak professionally and directly. We value personal and professional balance, and we don’t take ourselves too seriously—there’s room for a sense of humor.
- This is a role for someone who wants real responsibility for both the quality of care and the health of the operation. If that matches how you lead, we’d like to hear from you.
