General Summary:
The Executive Director of Outpatient Services provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for Serenity Lane's outpatient service line across all outpatient locations. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this position is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, organizational growth, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer experience throughout the outpatient division. The Executive Director partners with organizational leaders to develop and implement strategic initiatives that strengthen business operations, improve efficiency, increase market presence, and support organizational goals. This role does not provide clinical oversight or supervision.
Essential Duties:
Executive Leadership
Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for all outpatient operations.
Develop and execute long-term operational strategies aligned with organizational priorities.
Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and contribute to organization-wide planning and decision-making.
Lead initiatives that support organizational growth, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Operational Management
Direct the day-to-day business operations of all outpatient locations through Regional Directors.
Establish operational goals, performance metrics, and accountability measures.
Standardize operational processes across all outpatient locations to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Identify opportunities to improve workflow, productivity, and operational performance.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement improvement plans when necessary.
Ensure all outpatient locations maintain compliance with organizational policies, payer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards from an operational perspective.
Financial Leadership
Develop, monitor, and manage outpatient operating budgets.
Drive financial performance through effective resource allocation and operational efficiencies.
Analyze financial reports, productivity metrics, reimbursement trends, and business analytics to guide decision-making.
Collaborate with Finance to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and capital planning.
Identify opportunities to increase revenue, reduce costs, and improve operational sustainability.
Ensure sound business and billing practices are maintained throughout outpatient operations.
Essential Duties, continued:
Business Development & Strategic Growth
Lead strategic growth initiatives for outpatient services.
Evaluate market trends and identify opportunities for service expansion.
Collaborate with executive leadership on business development strategies.
Develop relationships with community partners, referral sources, healthcare organizations, and stakeholders to expand market presence.
Support implementation of new business initiatives, operational programs, and service expansions.
Leadership & Talent Development
Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to Regional Directors and the Clinical Manager of Behavioral Health.
Build leadership capacity through mentoring, succession planning, and professional development.
Partner with Human Resources on recruitment, workforce planning, employee engagement, and retention strategies.
Conduct performance evaluations and establish measurable performance expectations for direct reports.
Quality & Operational Excellence
Utilize operational dashboards and performance data to support strategic decision-making.
Monitor operational outcomes and organizational performance measures.
Lead continuous process improvement initiatives across outpatient operations.
Ensure effective communication and coordination among outpatient locations and organizational departments.
Develop, review, and implement operational policies and procedures.
Participate in leadership meetings, strategic planning sessions, retreats, and organizational initiatives.
Travel periodically to outpatient locations to provide leadership, operational support, and strategic oversight.
Other Duties:
LMS Relias Training is an annual requirement, and training must be completed before annual deadline.
General Executive Director duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated executive leadership experience overseeing multi-site operations.
Strong business acumen with experience managing complex operational environments.
Advanced knowledge of strategic planning, budgeting, financial management, and operational performance metrics.
Experience leading organizational growth initiatives and change management.
Ability to analyze business data and translate findings into strategic action plans.
Proven success managing multiple leaders across geographically dispersed locations.
Strong knowledge of business operations, compliance, regulatory requirements, and organizational governance.
Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional departments.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining organizational objectives.
Commitment to ethical leadership and organizational values.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and remain compliant with ongoing random testing requirements, (Serenity Lane is a cannabis THC-free workplace).
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, or related field, required.
Minimum of seven years of progressive leadership experience managing multi-site operations, required.
Minimum of five years of senior leadership experience with direct responsibility for operational and financial performance., required.
Experience leading directors or senior-level managers, required.
Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), Organizational Leadership, Public Administration, or related field, preferred.
Experience in behavioral healthcare, healthcare operations, or nonprofit healthcare organizations, preferred.
Experience leading organizational growth, mergers, acquisitions, or service line expansion, preferred.
