    Job Description Summary

    The University of La Verne is seeking a strategic, highly organized, and operationally focused leader to serve as Executive Director, Technology, Operations, & Strategy within the Office of the CDIO. This newly created position will act as the operational backbone of the technology organization, overseeing budgeting, vendor management, project governance, departmental operations, reporting, and administrative leadership.

    The Executive Director, Technology, Operations, & Strategy serves as a trusted advisor and right-hand partner to the CDIO, ensuring the efficient execution of strategic initiatives while maintaining strong operational discipline across the IT organization. This role will help drive accountability, improve processes, support decision-making, and coordinate priorities across teams and stakeholders throughout the University.

    The ideal candidate is a seasoned operations professional who can bring structure, organization, and business acumen to a growing technology organization. While a strong understanding of technology operations is beneficial, this position is not intended to be deeply technical. Instead, success will come from leadership, operational excellence, financial stewardship, and the ability to translate strategy into execution.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in operations, administration, project management, business management, or organizational leadership.
    • Experience managing budgets, financial planning, vendor relationships, and operational processes.
    • Demonstrated success supporting senior executives and leading cross-functional initiatives.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
    • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supporting a CIO/CDIO, executive leadership team, or technology organization.
    • Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or complex multi-stakeholder environments.
    • Knowledge of project portfolio management, governance, and organizational performance measurement.
    • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Public Administration (MPA), Higher Education, or a related field.
    • PMP, Lean, Six Sigma, or related professional certification.

    Specific Duties

    Office of the CDIO Leadership & Operations

    • Partner closely with the CDIO to manage the day-to-day operations of the technology organization.
    • Serve as a strategic advisor and operational leader, helping drive organizational priorities and initiatives.
    • Establish and maintain operational processes, governance structures, and performance management practices.
    • Coordinate leadership meetings, strategic planning activities, departmental communications, and follow-through on key initiatives.
    • Monitor organizational priorities and ensure timely execution of action items and commitments.

    Percentage Of Time Specific Duties

    Financial & Budget Management

    • Lead the planning, administration, and monitoring of the IT operating and capital budgets.
    • Develop financial reports, forecasts, dashboards, and executive summaries for leadership.
    • Monitor expenditures and contracts to ensure responsible stewardship of university resources.
    • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, cost savings, and resource optimization.

    Percentage Of Time Specific Duties

    Vendor & Contract Management

    • Manage relationships with technology vendors, consultants, and service providers.
    • Oversee contract administration, renewals, negotiations, and vendor performance reviews.
    • Ensure vendor engagements align with institutional goals, budgets, and service expectations.
    • Coordinate procurement activities in partnership with university purchasing and finance departments.

    Percentage Of Time Specific Duties

    Project & Portfolio Oversight

    • Support governance and oversight of the IT project portfolio.
    • Track project progress, risks, dependencies, budgets, and resource allocation.
    • Develop reporting mechanisms that provide visibility into project status and organizational performance.
    • Facilitate prioritization discussions and ensure alignment between technology initiatives and university objectives.

    Percentage Of Time Specific Duties

    Governance, Compliance & Reporting

    • Develop and maintain operational metrics, KPIs, and executive dashboards.
    • Prepare reports, presentations, and analyses for university leadership, committees, and governance groups.
    • Support technology governance processes, policy development, and strategic planning efforts.
    • Assist with audits, compliance initiatives, assessments, and documentation requirements.

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Collaborate with academic, administrative, and business units across the University.
    • Build strong relationships with campus leaders to understand priorities and support institutional goals.
    • Facilitate communication between IT leadership and university stakeholders.
    • Promote a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
