Position Overview
The Executive Director serves as the chief administrative officer of Wisconsin Teaching and Learning Leaders (WiTALL), working with the Board of Directors to support instructional excellence, supervision, and curriculum development across Wisconsin. Following the organization''s transition from Wisconsin ASCD to WiTALL, this leader manages operations and networking for a community of coaches, curriculum directors, and instructional partners statewide.
The role is a part-time or stipend-based position, typically held by an active or recently retired Wisconsin school district curriculum leader.
Key Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership: Operationalize the strategic vision, values, and core commitments set by the WiTALL Board of Directors. Actively champion the organization''s focus on educational equity, inclusive curriculum practices, and addressing achievement gaps across Wisconsin''s diverse learning communities.
Program & Event Management: Oversee the planning, marketing, and execution of statewide professional learning opportunities. This includes the annual Fall Conference, the Instructional Leadership & Coaching Network, the New Directors of Curriculum Program and Network, and specialized workshops.
Financial Stewardship: Collaborate with the Board Treasurer and administrative partners (such as CESA 9) to manage the organization''s budget, track membership revenue through systems like NeonOne, and ensure fiscal responsibility.
Governance Support: Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board, coordinate annual meeting agendas, facilitate the Board Self-Nomination process, and maintain streamlined communication among the Executive Committee.
Advocacy & Partnerships: Act as a liaison, elevating educator voice in conversations about state policy and practice. Nurture "Partners in Practice" relationships with school districts, vendors, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI), and align initiatives with the national principles of ASCD and ISTE.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Master's degree or higher in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related administrative field, along with relevant Wisconsin DPI licensure.
Experience: A proven track record of leadership in Wisconsin public education (typically 10+ years), specifically within curriculum development, instructional coaching, or school administration.
Active Network: Strong existing relationships within the Wisconsin K-12 landscape, connecting seamlessly with superintendents, curriculum directors, principals, and instructional coaches statewide.
Skills: Exceptional organizational, communication, and event-planning skills. Comfort utilizing or adapting to modern membership management software (e.g., NeonOne) and a strong capability for managing non-profit/association budgets.
