Position: Executive Medical Director, Medical Group Surgical Quality

A Brief Overview:
The purpose of the Executive Medical Director, Medical Group Surgical Quality serves as a key member of the Endeavor Health Department of System Surgery leadership team responsible for advancing surgical quality, patient safety, clinical outcomes, and performance improvement across the health system. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for the development, implementation, and oversight of system-wide surgical quality initiatives, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices, regulatory standards, and organizational goals. The position would have a 0.6 FTE administrative time expectation.

Value based care
Collaborate with Value-based Care programs and EHPP to align incentives and outcomes
Patient experience
Lead efforts to standardize patient access, scheduling, throughput
Develop and track ambulatory service metrics / KPI (wait times, call center responsiveness, digital access)

Fosters a culture of patient-centered care, equity, and continuous improvement
Clinical outcomes advancement
Collaboration with other Departments/Centers and Hospitals to assure that clinical care and documentation meets regulatory requirements.
Standardize clinical care
Develop systemwide specialty-specific operational playbook (clinical pathways, system service/clinical program rationalization)
Promote cross-specialty benchmarking to identify high-performing teams and spread best-practices
Implement lean and continuous improvement methods in ambulatory workflows
Digital health/Data Integration
Oversee integration of digital front-door tools (online scheduling, ambulatory navigation)
Align specialty dashboards and analytics (access, quality, utilization, financials)
Partner with IT and analytics teams to optimize Epic data and population health reporting
Quality, Safety, and Risk Management
Oversee specialty-related ambulatory safety initiatives (new procedures/instruments safe intro, test results)
Align quality metrics with payer and system goals
Partner with system risk management on incident review and prevention strategies
Oversees Morbidity and Mortality Conferences throughout the system
What you will need:
MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
Doctorate Medicine Required
Board certification in a surgical specialty within the Department of Surgery (General Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Otolaryngology, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Trauma, Urology, Thoracic, Cardiac, Vascular).
Current medical license (or eligibility) in the state of practice.
5+ Years of experience with Practicing physician in the areas of: EMR optimization, clinical informatics and Total Population Health
Demonstrated leadership experience in quality improvement.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Strong leadership characteristics and demonstrates self-confidence and is always able to articulate issues.
Ability to plan, direct and coordinate all activities of assigned initiatives with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability in representing the HIT department, its strategies and policies in appropriate administrative and clinical meetings.
Demonstrate a high degree of motivation.

Ability to interface, creating a positive working relationship, with HIT related organizational divisions external to NorthShore.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills and the expertise to translate clinical and technical terminology into terms understandable by management, department heads and performance level personnel.
An understanding of the healthcare applications suite and their place in the acute care, physician, ambulatory and ancillary settings.
Ability to solve highly complex organizational, operational and people problems.
Excellent troubleshooting, debugging and problem-solving skills
