Tax Manager / Senior Tax Manager – Public Accounting

An established public accounting firm in the Greater Pittsburgh market is seeking an experienced Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager to join its team.

This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong tax professional who enjoys working with complex closely held businesses, high-net-worth individuals and families, while also serving as a trusted client advisor and developing other tax professionals.

The firm is looking for someone who can bring a strong combination of technical tax expertise, client leadership, team development, and operational awareness to help support the continued growth of the tax practice.

Position Responsibilities

• Manage and review complex federal, state, and local tax engagements

• Provide technical expertise across S-Corporations, Partnerships, individuals, trusts, estates, foundations, and other fiduciary entities

• Work extensively with high-net-worth individuals, families, and closely held business owners

• Provide proactive tax planning, consulting, and advisory services

• Review complex tax returns and ensure technical accuracy and compliance

• Serve as a primary point of contact and trusted advisor for high-value client relationships

• Assist clients with complex tax questions, notices, planning matters, and evolving tax needs

• Communicate sophisticated tax concepts in a clear and practical manner

• Manage engagement workflow, deadlines, staffing, and deliverables

• Lead, mentor, coach, and develop tax professionals

• Review staff work and provide technical guidance and constructive feedback

• Collaborate with firm leadership on complex client and technical matters

• Help develop and improve tax processes, procedures, and workflow efficiencies

• Identify opportunities to improve client service and support continued practice growth

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive public accounting tax experience, with management-level experience preferred

• CPA or JD

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Strong technical background with S-Corporations and Partnerships

• Significant experience working with high-net-worth individuals and families

• Experience with trusts, estates, fiduciary taxation, and related entities is highly valued

• Strong tax review, planning, research, and advisory experience

• Experience managing complex client relationships and resolving tax notices

• Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop staff

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong client-facing skills with the ability to confidently advise sophisticated clients and business owners

• Ability to manage multiple complex engagements, teams, and deadlines

• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
