Export Grain Merchandiser

Pacificor LLC is seeking an experienced Export Grain Merchandiser to join our Portland, OR team. This role manages purchase and sale contracts for export-bound grain moving through PNW terminals, coordinates rail, barge, and vessel logistics, and manages price risk. The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of grain merchandising or trading experience, a strong grasp of PNW logistics, and the relationship-building skills to work effectively with our origination and marketing partners as well as international buyers.

We originate and export wheat, corn, soybeans, and other commodities through our Willamette River and Columbia River export terminals to customers across Asia, Latin America, and beyond. Key Responsibilities

• Buy and sell wheat, corn, soybeans, and other grains for export through Pacific Northwest terminals and to domestic markets.

• Manage a book of business, negotiating purchase and sale contracts with growers, origination partners, and/or export buyers.

• Coordinate rail, barge, and vessel logistics to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of grain to export terminals.

• Monitor global grain markets, basis levels, freight rates, weather, and macroeconomic factors affecting trade flows.

• Build and maintain relationships with farmers, origination and market partners, international buyers, and trade organizations.

• Collaborate closely with logistics, credit, operations, and merchandising teams to execute trades from origination through vessel loading.

• Provide market analysis, reports, and trading recommendations as required to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience in grain merchandising, commodity trading, logistics or a related role.

• Working knowledge of export grain logistics, including rail, barge, and vessel loading operations.

• Familiarity with futures, hedging, and basis trading strategies.

• Strong negotiation, analytical and relationship-building skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, finance, economics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven trading environment. 

• Willingness to travel occasionally to domestically and international for customer visits and industry events.
