Facilities and Grounds Maintenance Technician Associate JobID: 10101 Position Type: Maintenance/CustodialDate Posted: 9/9/2026Location: Proviso West High School Closing Date: Until Filled Additional Information: Show/HideFacilities and Grounds Maintenance Technician Associate Division / Department: Custodial and MaintenanceClassification (FLSA): Full-time, Non-ExemptPosition Group: MaintenanceGrade Level (per CBA): Grade IIIFull-Time Equivalent (FTE): 1.0Anticipated Work Year & Hours: 260 Days (12 Month)Union Membership: Proviso Custodial and Maintenance Union SEIU Local 73, CTWReports to: Custodial and Maintenance Building Lead; Director of Buildings and Grounds Main Job Duties:Assist with mowing lawns, trimming edges, and maintaining grass areas using hand and power tools.Help plant, water, and prune trees, shrubs, and flowers.Clean outdoor areas, including sidewalks, playgrounds, and parking lots.Collect and dispose of trash and debris from school grounds and fields.Assist in maintaining fences, gates, and door hardware (hinges, latches, locks) as needed.Help maintain and repair small equipment such as mowers, blowers, and trimmers.Assist with painting, raking leaves, and spreading mulch or gravel.Support snow and ice removal during winter months (if applicable).Follow all safety rules and procedures and use protective gear properly.Work closely with the Lead Groundman or Maintenance Supervisor to complete daily tasks.Maintenance grounds vehicle and equipment cleaning and preventive maintenance Snow removal Sports field lining and grooming Debris grounds canvasing Enter school dude for building repairs and closeout when complete Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration. Skills and Abilities:Interest in outdoor work, landscaping, or maintenance.Ability to safely use basic tools and grounds equipment (rakes, shovels, mowers, trimmers).Reliable, responsible, and willing to learn.Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team.Good physical fitness and attention to detail. Education and Requirements:High school student or graduate (vocational or technical trade program preferred).Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, and working outdoors in various weather.Basic mechanical knowledge or tool experience is helpful but not required.Must demonstrate dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
