We have multiple facilities in Albany, OR and are a world class supplier of titanium castings and components for the aerospace industry. If you are selected to join our team you will enjoy benefits such as quarterly bonus medical, dental, vision, 401(k), company paid life insurance, and other great benefits!

    Summary
We’re looking for a Facilities Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support and enhance the control systems and instrumentation that power our investment casting foundry. This role focuses heavily on PLC‑based controls, plant instrumentation, and equipment reliability, with automation experience as a valuable bonus. You’ll work hands‑on with furnaces, autoclaves, wax presses, shell‑building systems, leaching equipment, and other essential high‑temperature foundry processes.
While PLC programming (especially Allen‑Bradley) is the core of this role, experience with Ignition (Inductive Automation) or other SCADA systems is ideal but not required.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Design, implement, and maintain PLC control systems for foundry process equipment and facility utilities.
    • Program and troubleshoot Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix systems using ladder logic and related control languages.
    • Support plant instrumentation including sensors, transmitters, actuators, and safety circuits used in high‑temperature industrial processes.
    • Integrate or support Ignition SCADA systems; experience with Inductive Automation tools is preferred.
    • Lead modernization projects, including PLC/HMI upgrades and migration of legacy control platforms.
    • Improve equipment reliability and process stability across melting, shell building, leaching, heat treat, and critical foundry operations.
    • Create and maintain wiring diagrams, loop drawings, instrumentation schematics, and engineering documentation.
    • Oversee contractors and integrators during instrumentation installations, commissioning, and system upgrades.
    • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, IT, and Engineering on process optimization, data analysis, and continuous improvement.

    Qualifications
    • Strong PLC programming skills, with emphasis on Allen‑Bradley platforms.
    • Knowledge of industrial control system architecture, including PLC/PAC platforms, HMI interfaces, and high‑speed or multi‑axis motion control.
    • Solid understanding of ladder logic, structured text, and industrial control programming.
    • Experience with instrumentation, sensors, control loops, and industrial measurement systems.
    • Ignition SCADA or Inductive Automation experience is preferred.
    • Background with high‑temperature or high‑pressure manufacturing equipment; foundry or metals experience strongly preferred.
    • Hands‑on experience diagnosing electrical faults, verifying wiring integrity, and performing maintenance inside industrial control cabinets.
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop sheets, and technical manuals.
    • Strong communication and project‑management skills.
    • Familiarity with capital project funding processes and basic engineering‑related accounting practices.

    Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering preferred; equivalent relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
    • Oregon LME license or higher preferred; ability to meet licensing requirements after hire is expected.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial automation, instrumentation, or PLC controls; foundry or investment casting experience is a plus.

    Working Environment
    • Combination of office work and hands‑on exposure in active foundry areas.
    • Exposure to heat, noise, vibration, and industrial equipment.
    • Occasional local travel to vendors, integrators, and equipment suppliers.
