What You’ll Do

  • Manage assigned construction, capital improvement, and facility infrastructure projects from planning through completion.
  • Coordinate engineering, design, procurement, construction, and project closeout activities.
  • Own project budgets, track spending, review costs, and address potential overruns.
  • Develop and maintain schedules, coordinate resources, and monitor project milestones.
  • Work with internal engineering and operations teams, external consultants, contractors, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Coordinate projects involving HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and related building systems.
  • Monitor construction progress, contractor performance, quality, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Identify project risks and resolve technical, construction, and operational issues.
  • Communicate project status, budget updates, schedule changes, and risks to stakeholders.
  • Ensure work follows applicable building codes, safety standards, environmental requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Support project decisions that improve facility reliability and long-term asset performance.
Required Qualifications

  • Direct experience managing construction and capital improvement projects.
  • Experience with building systems engineering or facilities infrastructure, such as HVAC, electrical, or mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for project budgets, cost tracking, and financial accountability.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience coordinating contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, project schedules, procurement, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve issues throughout project execution.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Local availability to support hybrid work and onsite project needs in Detroit.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project.
  • Experience using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and/or Autodesk Forma.
Education Note: A bachelor’s degree is not required for this contract assignment but is strongly preferred. Comparable direct-hire positions with our client typically require a bachelor’s degree, which may affect eligibility for future conversion opportunities. Conversion is not guaranteed.
