    Summary of Job Duties:

    Basic Functions

    Under the direction of the Dean of General Education and Transfer, this full-time, 9-month faculty position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the assigned General Education teaching area across on-ground, hybrid, and online formats. Beyond instruction, this position is essential for curriculum development, student learning assessment, and engagement with industry and/or academic partners to align educational programs with current academic, transfer, and workforce trends.

    Position Duties

    75% Classroom and Laboratory Instruction

    Focus on delivering high-quality instruction in the assigned teaching area. This includes the development and assessment of student learning outcomes to ensure competency in both credit and non-credit coursework depending on program and assigned teaching area needs. The instructor utilizes the college's student and learning management systems as well as other college identified instructional technology to deliver content effectively across multiple platforms while maintaining a safe and productive learning environment.

    15% Student Retention and Recruitment

    Directs efforts toward student success by implementing retention and completion strategies designed to identify and support students. This includes engaging with students regularly in both curricular and co-curricular settings. The instructor maintains regular office hours to provide a consistent point of contact for academic support and intervention. Additionally, this position actively leads and participates in recruitment activities to promote the General Education degree programs within the community and local high schools, ensuring a steady pipeline of qualified applicants.

    5% Industry/Academic Alignment

    Focus on building and maintaining relationships with industry and/or academic partners to ensure that degree program and course curriculum remain aligned with current academic/transfer requirements and workforce needs.

    5% Professional Development and College Service

    Maintains professional expertise by staying current with regulatory, policy, or academic requirements, best practices, and teaching methodologies through ongoing professional development and faculty workshops. This duty includes participating in shared institutional governance through campus, division/department, and faculty senate meetings. The instructor also serves on committees and engages in service activities that support the institution and the local community.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Knowledge

    Subject Matter: Comprehensive understanding of subject matter in the identified teaching area.

    Instructional Design: Knowledge of curriculum development and alignment, including the creation of syllabi, instructional materials, and assessments.

    Pedagogical Methodology: Understanding of student-centered learning and critical thinking strategies appropriate for both high school and adult learners.

    Educational Technology: Knowledge of online, hybrid, and on-ground instructional delivery methods and the utilization of learning management systems (LMS).

    Skills

    Instructional Delivery: Skilled in delivering high-quality instruction and conducting assessments of student learning.

    Technology Utilization: Competent in utilizing technology effectively in a teaching environment to enhance student learning.

    Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary for student engagement and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.

    Strategic Assessment: Ability to facilitate planning, assessment, and evaluation activities in support of institutional, program, and student learning outcomes.

    Abilities

    Adaptability: Ability to teach across various formats (online, hybrid, on-ground) and handle both credit and non-credit coursework.

    Student-Centered Support: Ability to perform duties that support student retention and completion goals.

    Governance Participation: Ability to effectively participate in shared institutional governance such as faculty senate and committees.

    Collaborative Partnership: Ability to work effectively and collegially with internal and external stakeholders to support success of current and future students.

    Qualifications:

    Qualifications

    • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Mathematics or related field.
    • Applicable Licenses, Certifications, and/or Credentials may also be considered when relevant.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and utilize technology in teaching.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Doctorate Degree from an accredited college or university in Mathematics or related field.
    • Teaching experience in higher education, specifically in a community college setting or corporate training experience.
