Family Nurse Practitioner

Required Qualifications:

Active NP or APRN license — any U.S. state accepted for IHS federal facilities
Board certified FNP — AANP or ANCC
BLS certification required — ACLS preferred
Minimum 1 to 2 years of NP or APRN clinical experience
Ability to work independently in a rural outpatient federal setting
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior IHS or tribal facility experience
Experience managing chronic disease in underserved or rural populations
Cultural competency with Navajo or Native American communities
Familiarity with RPMS or IHS electronic health record systems

Key Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive family medicine primary care across the lifespan including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
Perform history and physical examinations, order and interpret labs and imaging, and develop individualized care plans
Manage acute and chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, respiratory illness, cardiovascular disease, and behavioral health concerns prevalent in the Navajo Nation community
Prescribe medications and initiate evidence based treatment plans within full APRN scope of practice
Administer and document immunizations and preventive health screenings
Provide patient and family education on disease management, medications, and health promotion
Collaborate with RNs, community health representatives, and physicians to coordinate patient centered care
Document accurately and timely in the electronic health record
Deliver culturally competent care integrating awareness of Navajo traditions and community values
