    ***This role will service the state of South Carolina ***

    Position Summary:
    The Farm to School Project Coordinator role oversees and provides services to ensure the Farm to School project runs in accordance with grant requirements and AMIkids' established performance expectations; attract employers within the communities to participate and guide participating AMIkids Programs to reach the desired results.
     

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Develop and/or implement the strategy to successfully implement the Farm to School project at the identified Programs for various grade levels, and structure for scaling initiative,
    • Recruit youth, participants, employers, and community partners to participate in AMIkids Farm to School program and cultivate relationships, 
    • Coordinate and train/lead Programs in the delivery of Farm to School education, increasing hands on nutrition and food education in the classroom and Program Garden, and establish/grow the inclusion of local produce/products in the Programs Child Nutrition Program,
    • Establish, update, and monitor policies and procedures related to Farm to School processes,
    • Oversee nutritional education programs to include (nutritional education, storage of foods,
    • classroom presentations by youth, tastings, menus, preparing the food for nutritional benefit [culinary education], themed picnics, sale of product, career paths, etc.), include education on organic, local, and free-range produce/products to increase youth awareness, 
    • Collaborate with Programs on delivery of the agricultural industry education and visit/evaluate the success of each Program’s Garden and selected produce, 
    • Maintain awareness of relevant state and/or local health and food safety requirements and audit Programs for compliance,
    • Track the number of youths receiving SERV Safe certifications related to the Farm to School grant,
    • Create, maintain, and deliver impact reports for each Program and collectively; include number of youth, employers, and community partners participating, 
    • Attend related training and visit other Farm to School Programs to continually enhance the current program, 

    Minimum Education, Training and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred,
    • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in agricultural education, food systems, nutrition, or related field,
    • Knowledge and ability to implement educational learning techniques, strategies, and practices,
    • Project management experience,
    • Ability to organize tasks and follow up efficiently with strong attention to detail,
    • Knowledge of socio-ecological approach and skill in connecting youth programming across multiple locations, 
    • Experience working and/or supervising youth a plus,
    • Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook),
    • Knowledge of related federal, state, and local regulations,
    • Ability to work well collaboratively and independently,
    • Effective communication skills (written/verbal),
    • Travel required
