Description
Job Summary: The Fiber Construction Inspector will collaborate with supervisors and cross-functional operations teams to ensure that company policies and construction standards are complied with during fiber construction projects. This role demands strong organizational skills, problem-solving aptitude, and a customer-service mindset to maintain high-quality construction inspection standards across projects. Job Location: Candidates must be able to travel extensively across the state of Alabama, primarily covering Florence, Cullman, Decatur, Athens, Muscle Shoals, Gadsden, with occasional trips to Auburn, Troy, and Dothan. Work Schedule:
Generally, 8 hours per day, typically from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST with a 1-hour meal break.
Work hours align with site construction scheduling.
Travel & Expenses:
Travel between various sites within Alabama.
Phone and mileage expenses reimbursed for site-to-site or occasional overnight travel (once or twice monthly).
Key Responsibilities:
Manage warehouse duties including inventory control, vendor equipment outfitting, and cable inventory management.
Document fiber inventory and incidents accurately in company systems (e.g., Microsoft CRM).
Provide on-site supervision and support during major outages or sensitive network impacts, coordinating internal and external resources.
Collaborate with internal teams to update operational handbooks and policies with current standards and best practices.
Perform strand mapping and conduct make-ready inspections with utility companies.
Conduct post-construction rides with other utilities to ensure compliance and quality.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of construction inspection experience in the telecommunications industry.
Construction field experience is strongly preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Visio, etc.).
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational abilities and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
Basic understanding of web application infrastructure and front-end/database technologies is a plus.
Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
