Job Summary:
As the Construction Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will ultimately be responsible for preventative maintenance, advanced diagnostics, and repair of heavy-duty diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and construction machinery. You will coordinate field and shop-based fleet repairs and deliver timely equipment maintenance solutions to support operational continuity. As the Construction Heavy Equipment Mechanic, your customers are Congruex field construction teams and fleet operations, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company’s success through equipment reliability, reduced downtime, and safe maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy construction equipment, trucks, trailers, and utility vehicles
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components
• Perform DOT/FMCSA inspections and complete maintenance documentation accurately and on time
• Troubleshoot and repair wiring systems, hydraulic components, brake systems, and air conditioning systems
• Perform welding and fabrication using MIG, ARC, Oxy-Acetylene, and related tools
• Ensure compliance with company safety standards and operational procedures
• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications
• High school diploma or GED required
• CDL Class B required; CDL Class A preferred
• DOT certification required

Experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy-duty truck repair, construction equipment repair, utility equipment repair, or related mechanical fields
• Experience working with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems

Skills and Abilities
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
• Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics and technical repair manuals
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Basic welding and fabrication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer skills for service documentation

Preferred Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree or trade school certification in diesel or automotive repair
• ASE certifications or EPA 609 Air Conditioning certification
• Welding certifications
• Brake certifications for air systems

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. independently and up to 100 lbs. with assistance
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb for extended periods
• Work performed outdoors, in shop environments, and in all weather conditions as applicable
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review
