Job Summary: The Heavy Haul Field Project Manager is responsible for providing direct, day-to-day oversight of heavy haul projects both in the field and from the office. This role ensures that all assigned projects are monitored in real time and remain on schedule. The Field Project Manager will collaborate closely with Heavy Haul Operations and the supervisors of supporting departments to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and meet current and future transportation needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Project and Operational Oversight - Project Planning & Execution: Manage project scopes, timelines, and budgets; ensure alignment with organizational goals and customer requirements. - Extended Coverage: Position may require shift schedule changes, extended hours, after-hours, or weekend support during the project phase. - Risk Management: Identify project risks and strategies to prevent disruptions and minimize impact. - Quality & Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures SOPs, DOT/FMCSA regulations, safety protocols, and internal quality standards across all project tasks. - Operational Oversight: Assist with route surveys and route strategies for heavy haul and specialized loads. - Financial Accountability: Assist with monitoring the project costs and accessorials. Carrier & Vendor Compliance - Assist with monitoring driver and carrier score cards and KPI’s Communication & Stakeholder Engagement - as the primary liaison between clients, leadership, and internal teams. - Deliver status reports and performance summaries to project stakeholders. - Assist in project meetings and post-project reviews to ensure alignment and continuous improvement. Documentation and Reporting - Maintain accurate daily field reports, daily log of activities (daily emailed update), job logs, incident reports, and delivery documentation for internal tracking and customer records when required. Customer Relationships - Serve as a primary field contact for customers, drivers, and other primary stakeholders, providing updates, resolving concerns, and ensuring satisfaction with project execution. - Perform site visits and route surveys, ensuring thorough documentation of observations, conditions, and findings. - Prepare, complete, and submit daily reports, site visit documentation, and route/survey reports accurately, professionally, and within required timeframes. Safety Management - Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring all personnel comply with safety guidelines and corrective actions are implemented as needed. Professional Conduct & Administrative - Set the tone for professionalism, ethical decision-making, and high performance. - Perform additional strategic and operational duties as needed. - Maintains regular, punctual attendance and dependable work habits - Consistently upholds professionalism, integrity, accountability, and a customer-first mindset - Committed to company values and professional standards across all responsibilities Required Skills: - Proven leadership in complex logistics or transportation operations. - Strong analytical and decision-making skills. - Expertise in DOT regulations, routing compliance, and industry best practices. - AS400, Monday.com, and additional company software. - A proven track record in service, attendance, and reliability. - Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills. - Resilient under pressure with a bias for action and results. - Must display a professional attitude with internal and external customers. - Must be fluent in English. - Must be willing to work with new and developing technology. Education and Experience: - High School Diploma/GED required. - A BA/BS degree in Logistics or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred. - Minimum 5 years’ dispatch operations experience, direct experience working with drivers required. - Must have working knowledge of the transportation of over-dimensional shipments as well as the permitting process for over-dimensional shipments. - PMP certification, Six Sigma, or equivalent process improvement credentials preferred. - Prior CDL-A driving experience is beneficial but not required. |
