The Field, Quality Engineering Technician, will ensure that all material, both in-process and incoming, meets Tesla's quality requirements and specifications.  This person will be responsible for identifying quality issues within the Semi-Truck program manufacturing environment, leading investigations, and root cause analysis, collecting relevant process and product data, and managing non-conforming material.  This person will work closely with Production and Engineering teams to maintain rapid response and to drive continuous improvements to the production process.  They will conduct product tear downs for root cause analysis, drive the creation and maintenance of Quality Instruction documents and support Quality Engineers in root cause analysis of materialized quality issues, working closely with Manufacturing, Process, and Suppliers to establish processes and procedures that will ensure consistently high quality.  This person will assist in the organization and completion of Quality trials working with Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians and support new line validations with Quality Engineers.

Shift: 8:00AM - 4:30PM; Monday - Friday

  • Consistently perform higher level root cause investigations utilizing quality systems and following 8D/5 Why/DMAIC principles
  • Accurately track related investigations and countermeasures through Tesla Tools and Systems
  • Complete product teardowns while collecting relevant test data
  • Summarize and present consolidated findings of investigations to senior level cross functional teams
  • Utilize multiple data systems to identify historical and ongoing trends and at-risk parts (TRV, MySQL, ClickHouse, Periscope, etc.)
  • Collaborate with multiple cross functional teams to drive countermeasures
  • Self-manage time and workload while working on multiple projects
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with tesla systems, JIRA/WARP Issue Tracker
  • Strong data skills with MS Office using excel and PowerPoint to organize and present data
  • Deep understanding and product knowledge of part manufacture from subcomponent to finished goods
  • Can read and assess control plans and PFMEA to identify RPN and gaps in controls
  • Proven track record in leading and documenting investigations including good communication skills, verbal and written
  • Experience with one or more coding languages for data pulls (Python, MySQL, ClickHouse etc.)
