Competitive Pay Range: $96,000 - $125,000
Travel Requirement:  Out of State travel for 4-6 months with the opportunity to come home every other weekend for a 3-Day weekend!! 

At Clark Pacific, the Field Safety Engineer – Construction Safety Professional position. Construction plays a critical role in supporting and implementing Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and procedures across our construction projects. Working closely with the EHS-Manager, project teams, field staff, and subcontractors, this role identifies potential hazards, develops strategies to minimize risk, and promotes safe behaviors throughout project sites. The Field Safety Engineer works independently in the field and helps drive continuous improvement in Clark Pacific's safety culture, performance, policies, and practices.

  • Assist the EHS-Manager – Construction in developing, communicating, and implementing the Company's safety vision, philosophy, objectives, strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct observations and analyze jobsites and project plans to anticipate potential safety concerns and provide solutions.
  • Initiate and lead documentation efforts and support the development of Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSP) and other key project safety programs.
  • Assist with coordinating and conducting safety training for management, field staff, preconstruction teams, and project teams.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, clients, subcontractors, and inspectors to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Engage regularly with Clark Pacific field employees, project teams, and subcontractors to build collaborative working relationships.
  • Advise, educate, consult, and recommend safety solutions to Superintendents and Project Managers.
  • Proactively plan and execute safety strategies based on leading indicators.
  • Evaluate safety performance using analytical data from leading and lagging indicators.
  • Integrate multiple approaches to field safety, including risk-based critical thinking, behavioral safety, cultural safety, situational safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions, monitor results, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead project-site incident investigations.
  • Manage hazard assessment activities by conducting and/or supervising safety inspections.
  • Analyze inspection and incident data to identify opportunities for preventive and corrective actions.
  • Inspect active project sites to evaluate working conditions, support employee safety, and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct onsite observations and inspections for applicable regulatory, insurance, and Clark Pacific policy requirements.
  • Maintain leading and lagging safety KPIs and ensure information remains current.
  • Track project corrective action items through appropriate and timely completion.
  • Engage directly with project leadership and company management as necessary.
  • Work independently while providing frequent reporting and metrics to management and company leadership.
  • Promote safety through a coaching and engagement approach.

  • Ability to work independently in an autonomous field-based environment.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with construction teams, EHS, Human Resources, subcontractors, OSHA, consultants, and other third-party agencies.

Work Environment

  • Field-based position with exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Regular work on active construction project sites.
  • Ability to travel by vehicle and air from jobsite to jobsite.
  • Daily local travel and potential monthly overnight travel.
  • Travel requirements may be as much as 80% of the role.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to climb as required while working on active project sites.
  • Ability to travel between project locations.
  • Ability to conduct onsite facility and project observations and inspections.

Experience and Education

  • Associate degree with 5+ years of experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with Safety and Compliance in a commercial construction and/or manufacturing environment.
  • OSHA 30 certifications Required.
  • Valid CA State Driver's License is required.
  • CHST Required
