OVERVIEW:

Our client, a nationally recognized leader in electrical power services, is seeking a NETA-certified (II, III, IV) Field Service Technician - or candidate with equivalent experience to join their growing Testing Department. This individual will be responsible for performing high-voltage electrical testing, commissioning, and maintenance services across a range of apparatus, substations, and switchgear environments. This is a field-based role ideal for a technically skilled professional who takes pride in quality workmanship, operates with a safety-first mindset, and is ready to contribute to a team with four-plus years of transformer work already in the pipeline.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Field Testing & Technical Services

  • Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switchgear including (but not limited to) the following:
  • Circuit breakers
  • Power transformers
  • Current and potential transformers
  • Meters, transducers, and power system metering
  • Power cables
  • Grounding systems
  • Motors and motor starters
  • Station batteries and chargers
  • Alarm systems and annunciators
  • Personal protective equipment Troubleshooting & Reporting
  • Perform troubleshooting, problem identification, and root cause analysis
  • Make recommendations regarding corrective action and/or repairs
  • Generate technical reports detailing services provided, problems found, and corrective action taken or recommended Client & Team Communication
  • Represent the company professionally when communicating and interfacing with clients on-site
  • Communicate effectively with the management team on a regular basis regarding project status and the scheduling of manpower and equipment Safety
  • Make safety a top priority on every job site — the company maintains a zero-tolerance policy for safety violations
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV) preferred — equivalent hands-on field experience in high-voltage testing will be considered; placement title commensurate with certification and experience
  • Broad knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals
  • Broad knowledge of the major components of a substation
  • Broad knowledge of control and protection systems
  • Knowledge of high-voltage electric field theory
  • Broad knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, NESC, and applicable IEEE and ANSI)
  • Broad knowledge of the function of major electrical equipment
  • Broad knowledge of ground grid theory and design
  • Knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation
  • Mathematics proficiency including algebra and trigonometry
  • PowerDB knowledge a plus


SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to generate clear, professional technical reports
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and email


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check and hair follicle drug screen; subject to random screenings
  • Willingness to travel — standard rotation is Monday out, Friday home


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Competitive hourly rate commensurate with NETA certification level and experience
  • Per diem: $75/day with company-provided lodging | $200/day when self-provided
