This position is well suited for a technically skilled professional who enjoys problem-solving, customer interaction, and frequent travel.

  • Diagnose issues involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), contactors, relays, gauges, and related components.
  • Adjust and repair equipment that is damaged, malfunctioning, or outside acceptable calibration tolerances.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance to support equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Verify that equipment is operating safely and within required performance specifications before returning it to service.
  • Conduct on-site and remote equipment startup, operational training, and customer instruction.

Calibration Documentation & Quality Compliance

  • Record as-found and as-left calibration data and prepare calibration certificates and service documentation.
  • Maintain accurate measurement records and traceability to certified reference standards.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and applicable calibration requirements, including A2LA-accredited ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540 frameworks, as applicable.
  • Review calibration due dates, coordinate upcoming maintenance, and notify customers when service is approaching expiration.
  • Prepare detailed field service reports and update service records to support accurate invoicing and follow-up.

Customer Support & Technical Troubleshooting

  • Gather information from customers, evaluate equipment issues, and develop appropriate service plans.
  • Provide professional technical assistance by phone, email, and other remote support methods.
  • Work with customers to diagnose operational problems, explain repairs, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Follow up after service visits to confirm customer satisfaction and address outstanding issues.
  • Consult with engineering personnel to resolve complex equipment problems and identify opportunities for product improvement.
  • Communicate customer feedback, equipment performance concerns, and recommendations to management.

Service Coordination & Administration

  • Prepare service quotations, obtain customer purchase orders, and enter sales orders into the company's ERP system.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, including flights, rental vehicles, hotels, and related expenses.
  • Confirm customer site access requirements, safety orientations, and required training before service visits.
  • Maintain organized service documentation and follow company travel and expense policies.
  • Prioritize multiple service assignments while meeting customer deadlines and business needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a calibration technician.
  • Extensive hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment.
  • Experience with A2LA-accredited ISO/IEC 17025 calibration procedures or comparable calibration quality systems.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  • Familiarity with ASTM specifications and testing standards.
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, relays, contactors, and industrial control systems.
  • Experience servicing laboratory testing equipment, environmental test chambers, or corrosion testing equipment.
  • Experience preparing calibration certificates, service reports, and technical documentation.
  • Customer-facing field service or technical support experience.
