Field Service Technician/ Engineer - Precision Equipment (Dallas-Fort Worth / North Texas)

Location: Dallas-Fort Worth area and Sherman, TX (2 openings)
Travel: Varies by opening (see below)
Compensation: $92,000 - $103,000 base, plus relocation assistance

If you’re the tech who gets called when a machine won’t run right, and you like that no two days are the same, this role is built for you.

Our client is a global builder of precision surface finishing equipment used in semiconductor, advanced materials, and other high-tech manufacturing. Their machines lap, polish, grind, and slice materials to extremely tight tolerances. As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll install these machines, keep them running, and be the face of the company when a customer needs help.

Two Openings

  • Customer Site Engineer - Sherman, TX: Based at customer semiconductor facilities north of Dallas, supporting polishing and lapping equipment in a cleanroom environment. Limited travel.

  • Traveling Field Service Engineer - DFW: Based in the DFW area, supporting customers across North America and internationally, including Europe and Asia. About 75% travel, with assignments lasting from one week to several weeks.

What You’ll Do

  • Install, commission, calibrate, and start up new machines at customer sites

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, controls, and software issues, often while a production line is waiting on you

  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and field modifications

  • Train customer operators and maintenance teams

  • Make decisions on site, working one-on-one with the customer, with full support from the service team behind you

  • Share what you see in the field with engineering to improve the product

  • Write clear service reports and complete service paperwork

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of field service, machine installation, or maintenance on automated or precision equipment

  • A strong mechanical background plus electrical and software skills: good with your hands and your head

  • Experience with PLCs, servo systems, drives, motors, and sensors

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams

  • Comfort working independently and communicating clearly with customers

  • Flexibility for long days during busy periods

  • Valid driver’s license; passport or ability to get one for the traveling role

  • Authorization to work in the US without current or future sponsorship

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work around industrial equipment, including cleanroom gowning or hard hat and steel-toe environments

Nice to Have

  • Field service experience with an equipment OEM

  • Semiconductor, cleanroom, or wafer processing experience (polishing, lapping, grinding, CMP, wire saw, dicing)

  • Robotics or motion control experience

  • Associate degree or technical certification in electrical, mechatronics, or robotics

  • Military technical background maintaining sophisticated systems (radar, avionics, aviation)

Why This Role

  • Work in a growing, high-tech field where every day is different, from teaching robots to leveling tables

  • Hands-on training on advanced precision equipment

  • International travel for the traveling role

  • A supportive manager and team who are available whenever you need them

Is This You?

Strong candidates often come from equipment OEM service teams, semiconductor fabs, CNC and machine service companies, automation integrators, or military technical roles where they kept complex systems running. This is not a fit if you’re looking for a fixed schedule or a desk job.
