Position: Field Service Technician
Location: Victor, NY

Summary: Nesco Resource is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join a growing automation and machine-building organization in Victor, NY. This direct hire opportunity offers the chance to support advanced custom automation systems across a variety of industries while helping expand a newly established service department. The ideal candidate has experience with automation, controls, robotics, or industrial equipment and enjoys troubleshooting complex technical issues both onsite and remotely.

Pay Rate:

  • $25.00 - $50.00/Hour (Based On Experience)
    • Overtime Opportunities
      + 10% Travel Premium While Traveling
    • Per Diem for Travel Assignments

Shift(s):

  • Day Shift: Monday - Friday
    • Travel Required: Approximately 40%
    • Additional travel opportunities available for candidates interested in increased field work

Job Duties:

  • Travel to customer sites for equipment installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service support
  • Support assembly, debugging, testing, and validation of custom automation systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, controls, and automation-related issues
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support to customers
  • Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities
  • Modify and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, robotics, motion control, and vision systems
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Controls, and Machine Build teams to resolve technical issues
  • Assist with equipment improvements, system modifications, and field upgrades
  • Document service activities, findings, and recommendations
  • Maintain professional customer relationships through strong communication and technical expertise

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in automation, controls, machine building, or field service environments
  • Previous OEM automation experience preferred
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience troubleshooting industrial equipment and automation systems
  • Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, robotics, industrial controls, and automation technology
  • Ability to independently diagnose issues and complete repairs in customer environments
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to remain organized and effective in fast-paced situations
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40%

Preferred Technical Experience:

  • PLC/HMI platforms including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar systems
  • Industrial communication networks including EtherNet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus
  • Industrial robotics including Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, or similar platforms
  • Vision systems including Cognex, Keyence, or similar technologies
  • Motion control systems
  • Electrical panels, field wiring, and controls integration
  • Pneumatic and mechanical systems
  • Custom automation and systems integration

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Combination of manufacturing, office, and customer-site environments
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and hands-on equipment troubleshooting
  • Exposure to industrial machinery, automation systems, and production environments
  • Ability to travel domestically and potentially internationally as needed
  • Must follow all customer safety procedures and PPE requirements
