Ready to play a key role in building the future of living, Join Samara in tackling Californias housing shortage and enabling people to attain sustainable housing without compromising design or quality. Our flagship product Backyard is a fully turnkey premium accessory dwelling unit (ADU) designed for homeowners and real estate developers. As we expand our offerings and scale our in-house development initiatives, we are at a pivotal moment redefining homeownership through high-quality, attainable infill housing. Backed by top-tier investors including Airbnb, Thrive Capital, and 8VC, Samara is positioned for significant growth and market impact.

As one of the first hires on the Development team, you will also play a foundational role in defining and establishing site construction processes, procedures, and training programs for future hires. You will work closely with the Development, Acquisitions, and Construction teams to align efforts, refine workflows, and ensure successful project delivery. Samaras field operations are lean - site staffing is small and nimble, and this role requires hands-on leadership. Ideal candidates will balance a strong trade background, e.g., framing, general trades, site prep, with sophistication in scheduling, documentation, subcontractor management, and software systems integration. If you are passionate about building high-quality housing and strive for continuously improving field operations, we would love to hear from you.

What Youll Do

Play a critical role on the Development Team supporting 4 or more projects at different stages of the project lifecycle.

Manage construction phase project planning and support the development manager in procuring vendors.

Lead daily field operations across multiple job sites, largely focused on horizontal scope, including:

• Mobilization • Layout • Grading • Utilities • Foundations • Site logistics • Landscaping • Final completion

Coordinate subcontractors and vendors, supervise scope execution, and ensure alignment with Samaras modular system methodology.

Manage construction schedules and resources to meet milestones across all sites, including look-aheads and conflict resolution.

Produce daily logs, site photos, safety documentation, and weekly progress reports.

Oversee quality control and compliance with California building codes, Cal-OSHA requirements, local jurisdiction inspections, and Samaras design intent.

Track RFIs, submittals, material deliveries, change orders, and punch-lists through closeout and turnover.

Enforce site safety, conduct tailgate briefings, maintain safety records, foster a clean and secure jobsite.

Collaborate closely with the Development Manager, Project Engineer, Samara Manufacturing, and Samara Site Installation teams.

Institutionalize field best practices, mentor field staff, document processes, contribute to team culture, and continuous improvement.

Coordinate with the Site Installation team for material tracking and logistical coordination specific to modular home assemblies.

Manage quality documentation and progress photos/video capture to ensure that all work is documented for future reference.

Think critically about process implementation and documentation to establish the roadmap for future hires in this role.

Proven ability to manage multiple residential construction sites concurrently with competing priorities and changing conditions.
