Position Overview:

Lead the Team That Keeps Projects Moving

We're looking for a hands-on Field Supervisor to help lead and grow our Construction Materials Testing (CMT) team in the Kansas City market. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced field technician who enjoys mentoring others, maintaining high safety standards, and serving as the go-to resource for daily field operations.
This position is about leadership, dependability, and operational excellence. While technical certifications are valuable, we're primarily seeking someone with strong field experience, sound judgment, and the ability to develop people while keeping projects and resources running smoothly.

Why This Role Matters

With growing workloads and upcoming project demands, we're investing in leadership that can strengthen our field operations, support technician development, and help create a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork.
You'll play a key role in supporting technicians, coordinating resources, maintaining fleet and equipment readiness, and stepping into the field when needed to ensure projects stay on track.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of field technicians across multiple projects
  • Champion a strong safety culture and reinforce safe work practices every day
  • Help coordinate staffing, scheduling, and dispatching needs to support project demands
  • Oversee fleet, equipment, and supply readiness to keep field operations running efficiently
  • Track training, certifications, and professional development opportunities for field staff
  • Partner with project managers and operations leadership to solve challenges and improve performance
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on training to help technicians grow their careers
  • Support field testing and inspection activities when operational needs require it

What Makes Someone Successful

  • Natural leader who enjoys developing and mentoring others
  • Respected field professional with solid construction materials testing experience
  • Strong communicator who can build trust with technicians, project teams, and clients
  • Comfortable balancing people leadership with day-to-day operational responsibilities
  • Organized, accountable, and proactive in identifying and solving problems
  • Willing to jump into the field and help the team when needed
  • Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Responsibilities:

  • Lead routine field tests and inspections of soil, concrete, asphalt, steel and/or wood framing at job sites.
  • Determine and reinforce code and job specification compliance for, but not limited to, structural concrete, spray-applied fireproofing, pre-stressed and post-tension concrete tendons, etc.
  • Compile and present detailed and accurate reports, diagrams, and findings.
  • Operate and maintain a motor vehicle, including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Communicate with dispatch, engineers, and/or field supervisors regarding job status.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to protect oneself and others in the work environment

  • Active International Code Council (ICC) Certifications: Masonry, Soils, Spray-Applied Fireproofing, Post?Tension, Concrete, etc. or EIT (Engineer-in-Training) licensure. CWI certification, preferred.
  • Strong mathematical, time management, and problem-solving skills with a focus on quality.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints, procedures, manuals, technical documents, and reports.
