Fast turnaround HVAC curb and adapter projects are the kind of work where skilled people make a measurable impact, and you’ll be based in the Chicago/Aurora, IL area with the freedom of a home-based schedule. This Field Support Measure Technician (HVAC) opportunity combines precise field measurement, MIG welding, and independent coordination across commercial job sites.
Qualifications and responsibilities for this Field Support Measure Technician (HVAC)position include:
- MIG welding experience, preferably working with thin-gauge sheet metal (client can teach other skills if you can weld).
- Highly proficient in reading a tape measure and taking extremely accurate measurements.
- Comfort working at heights on commercial rooftops and using extension ladders.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the Midwest, including overnight trips and occasional short-notice assignments.
- Physically able to handle a 65 lb. extension ladder and carry a 30 lb. tool bag.
- Travel to commercial job sites to measure existing HVAC rooftop units, curbs, and adapters.
- Perform field repairs and modifications to sheet metal products, primarily using MIG welding.
- Document measurements, take photos, create basic drawings, and upload details into company systems.
Salary: $30–$35/hour (up to $35–$38/hour for an exceptional candidate) per year, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: Medical coverage with a company contribution toward a plan selected based on location, company-paid dental coverage, and vision insurance, plus short-term and long-term disability. You will also receive a 401(k) with 100% match on the first 3% and 50% match on the next 2% (maximum 4% employer contribution), and PTO starting after the first year with additional growth over time (negotiable).
