Industry: Oil & Gas, LNG, Power Generation, and Industrial Services
Company: Basis North America Inc.

Position Overview

Basis North America is seeking a qualified Field Technician – Acoustic and Thermographic Inspections to support the BNA Guardian Asset Health & Reliability program.

This position is responsible for conducting predictive inspections at customer facilities, initially using the FOTRIC H6 acoustic camera to identify anomalies affecting rotating, static, and electrical assets. Following specialized training, the technician may expand into infrared thermography and IoT vibration-monitoring technologies.

The successful candidate will combine industrial maintenance or inspection experience with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to professionally represent Basis North America at customer sites.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct acoustic inspections at industrial facilities using the FOTRIC H6 acoustic camera.

  • Perform infrared thermography inspections after completing the required training.

  • Inspect compressors, gas and steam turbines, electric motors, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, MV/LV electrical panels, and gas-detection systems.

  • Follow inspection plans, asset lists, checklists, technical parameters, and instructions provided for each assignment.

  • Participate in pre-inspection briefings with the Service Manager.

  • Communicate significant anomalies, unexpected conditions, and critical findings promptly.

  • Complete a Field Data Sheet for every inspected asset.

  • Record anomaly type, measured values, technical observations, images, and severity classifications.

  • Photograph equipment and detected anomalies according to established documentation requirements.

  • Upload inspection data and supporting documentation to SharePoint or another designated platform by the end of each inspection day.

  • Follow all applicable HSE, EHS, OSHA, site-access, and personal protective equipment requirements.

  • Report unsafe conditions and nonconformities immediately.

  • Coordinate professionally with customer maintenance, operations, and plant personnel.

  • Respond to first-level technical questions clearly and professionally.

  • Communicate customer feedback, operational requirements, and potential service opportunities to the Service Manager.

  • Manage routine field changes involving access, scheduling, and logistics while keeping the appropriate team members informed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical diploma, degree, or equivalent field experience in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, industrial maintenance, or a related discipline.

  • Previous experience in industrial maintenance, equipment inspection, reliability, condition monitoring, or field service.

  • Familiarity with industrial equipment such as compressors, turbines, motors, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and electrical panels.

  • Ability to read P&IDs, technical drawings, equipment documentation, and basic plant documentation.

  • Ability to follow technical procedures, inspection plans, checklists, and reporting formats.

  • Proficiency with tablets, field applications, cloud platforms, and digital data-collection tools.

  • Basic English proficiency for technical reporting and communication.

  • Ability to work independently at customer facilities.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites, including assignments scheduled with short notice.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when collecting and reporting technical information.

  • Professional communication skills and a customer-oriented approach.

  • Ability to comply with all customer safety, security, access, and PPE requirements.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Oil & Gas, LNG, power generation, petrochemical, or other heavy industrial facilities.

  • Previous exposure to acoustic imaging or acoustic cameras used for industrial inspections.

  • Experience with predictive or condition-based maintenance.

  • Familiarity with vibration analysis, infrared thermography, acoustic inspection, or equipment reliability programs.

  • Experience identifying anomalies affecting rotating, static, or electrical assets.

  • Relevant OSHA, thermography, vibration-analysis, electrical-safety, or industrial-inspection certifications.

Previous acoustic-camera experience is desirable but not mandatory. Training on the FOTRIC H6, infrared thermography, and future monitoring technologies may be provided based on project requirements.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, organized, and comfortable working directly with customers. This individual must be able to collect accurate technical data while serving as the professional link between the customer’s facility and the remote analysis team.

The position offers an opportunity to develop additional capabilities in acoustic inspection, infrared thermography, and IoT vibration monitoring as the BNA Guardian program expands.
