Key responsibilities include interpreting technical documents, installing and terminating cabling, configuring DC power systems, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards like GR-1275. This position requires significant experience and often includes travel.

    Key Responsibilities & Duties
    • Equipment Installation & Modification:  Install, remove, and modify telecommunications equipment, infrastructure (like racking and fiber ducts), and components in Central Offices (CO), MSOs, and Data Centers.
    • Technical Documentation:  Read and interpret technical documents, such as floor plans, rack layouts, engineering instructions, and customer work orders, to guide installations.
    • Cabling & Infrastructure:  Build and install support infrastructure, including cable racks and framing. Terminate, route, and manage fiber and copper cabling using methods like lacing, stitching, and sewing.
    • Power Systems:  Configure and commission -48VDC power systems, including rectifiers, batteries, and distribution panels, and perform complex "hot cut " transitions.
    • Quality Assurance:  Ensure high-quality installations by adhering to Telcordia GR-1275 and other customer-specific standards. Participate in quality audits and ensure all work is safe and compliant.
    • Leadership & Mentoring:  Potentially lead site teams, provide work instructions to lower-level technicians, and serve as the in-charge person for jobs.
    Skills and Qualifications
    • Experience:  A minimum of 6 years of accumulated experience or equivalent, as determined by the installation supplier.
    • Technical Knowledge:  Strong technical knowledge of current network products and equipment, including DC power systems and transport/data center hardware.
    • Tools & Equipment:  Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools, test equipment (e.g., BER, OTDR), and computer interfaces for validation.
    • Standards Compliance:  Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards such as Telcordia GR-1275-CORE and other carrier-specific guidelines.
    • Soft Skills:  Strong verbal and written communication, customer-facing skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
    Work Environment
    • Field-Based:  The role is field-based, often requiring significant or 100% travel.
    • Safety:  A strong emphasis on safety is required, following all company and customer mandates, and utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
