Amazon"s Transportation network moves billions of packages annually, and the financial decisions behind that network touch everything from how we plan capacity to how we deliver on our customer promise. We"re looking for a Finance Manager who is curious about how it all works and motivated to make it work better.

What you"ll do

You"ll join a highly visible team embedded within Transportation operations, working shoulder to shoulder with Operations and Technology leaders to:

  • Learn how our network operates at the most granular level and translate that understanding into financial insight
  • Partner with business leaders to build the business cases behind network investments and cost initiatives
  • Drive programs and projects from concept through execution, measuring tangible impact on both our P&L and the customer experience
  • Surface inefficiencies and opportunities that others miss, collaborating with cross-functional teams to turn analysis into action
  • Leverage AI-powered tools to accelerate analysis and elevate the quality of recommendations you bring to the table

What makes this role different

This team takes pride in operational excellence - not just in the numbers we produce, but in how deeply we understand the operations behind them. You won"t observe from the sidelines. You"ll walk the network, learn the business from the ground up, and earn credibility by showing up with insights that reflect genuine operational understanding. The problems are complex, the data is massive, and the results of your work are visible in how we serve customers every day.

You"ll thrive here if you

  • Are genuinely curious about how things work - you"d rather tour a fulfillment center than read a slide deck about one
  • Take pride in getting the details right and producing work you"d put your name on
  • See your role as a thought partner to the business, not a reporting function that operates at arm"s length
  • Want your analysis to drive real action - programs launched, costs reduced, customer experience improved
  • View AI and automation as tools to ask better questions, not just get faster answers
  • Are energized by seeing your work show up in the metrics, because you helped drive the program that moved them

Key job responsibilities

  • Dive Deep into processes and cost drivers to uncover efficiency opportunities.
  • Collaborate with business partners to substantiate new strategies through data analysis.
  • Think critically while developing cost savings calculation methodologies.
  • Think Big to maximize savings opportunities.
  • Draft and present white papers, taking an idea from inception to a full-fledged project.
  • Design metrics and business review documents to guide the operations team through execution.
  • Apply data-driven presentation skills with an ability to simplify complex problems.

About the Company

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
