High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent with a minimum of four (4) years relevant clerical, customer service, financial aid, higher education, or related experience is required. Financial aid or other university-related work experience would be helpful. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position

Provides personalized Financial Aid customer service to prospective and current students/parents.

Primary Responsibilities

Provides personalized customer service at the highest level. Provides financial aid program assistance to students regarding the application process for grants, loans, scholarships, work-study, and/or other information related to financial aid. Responds to all inbound/outbound telephone calls and emails regarding financial aid. Researches questions and responds to customer inquiries. Inputs data and ensures the accuracy of information. Conducts research as requested. Answers questions and informs students of current eligibility status using available resources. Responsible for the dissemination of financial aid information regarding applications or any other information as required. Runs processes, reviews student financial aid statuses and provides information via telephone or in person. Maintains complex files. Types routine reports and correspondence. Provides statistical and vital information to management team on various data. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications

Requires some experience regarding financial aid and the occasional use of independent judgment. Requires ability to work at the front desk, encountering students, parents or staff. Requires ability to retain and relay financial information to students and parents. Experience with Financial Aid Software helpful. Computer skills required. During peak workloads, telephone periods may be extensive.
