Financial Counselor

Responsible for identifying payer sources for uninsured and underinsured patients, and for identifying patient financial responsibility for services and collecting co-pays, deductibles and deposits prior to scheduled services. This position serves as liaison between the patient, the physician, the hospital and payers. Minimum Education Bachelors degree in healthcare, business, sociology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum Work Experience 2 years of related experience. Required Licenses/Certifications Certified Application Counselor (CAC) or required to obtain within 90 days of hire Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Ability to review patients billing information in-person or on the phone verbally and in writing: explain financial assistance program and help with insurance enrollment when applicable. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policy and regulation of heathcare programs. Demonstrated moderate knowledge of medical terminology. Demonstrated moderate knowledge of basic computer skills. Math skills: required to calculate income, balances deposits. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required to deal with patients from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to exercise high degree of confidentiality. Pay Range: $19.97 - $29.09
