The nurse must be able to institute life saving measures, follow universal precautions, enforce the use of Time Out, maintain aseptic technique, and strictly adhere to hand hygiene per hospital protocol. The DI Nurse serves as a resource for patients, families, internal and external providers and their office staff, nursing (both inpatient and outpatient), and other support services.
