Introduction
The Office of Financial Regulation in the Maryland Department of Labor is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Financial Depository Examiner Supervisor. A financial depository examiner supervisor is the supervisory level of financial examination work. Employees in this classification supervise the examination of accounts, records, consumer transactions, and business practices of depository financial institutions (i.e., state-chartered banks, trust companies, and credit unions) primarily located at the businessâ headquarters.

Main Purpose of Job
A Financial Depository Examiner Supervisor is the supervisory level of financial depository examination work, specifically in information technology. Examiners in this classification supervise examiners examining information technology programs of banks, credit unions, and trust companies for safety and soundness and compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations to protect the general public and promote integrity and confidence in the financial industries regulated by the agency. Examiners in this classification supervise lower-level financial depository examiners. A financial depository examiner supervisor is a field examiner position that may, in management''s discretion, work remotely in accordance with the MD DOL and agency''s telework policies.
POSITION DUTIES
Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Nine years of experience examining the accounts, records, and business practices of depository financial institutions or in examination, managerial, or professional accounting or auditing work.
Notes:
Candidates may substitute the possession of a bachelor''s degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by a total of 24 credit hours in business administration, finance, economics, law or accounting and five years of experience examining the accounts, records, and business practices of depository financial institutions or in examination, managerial, or professional accounting or auditing work for the required experience. These credit hours must include a minimum of 6 credit hours in either accounting or auditing.
Candidates may substitute the possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a master''s degree in business administration or accounting from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in logistics specialist classifications or administrative support specialty codes in the financial management or auditing fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Applications that meet the minimum and/or selective qualifications will be referred to the hiring manager for interview selection. Units will select those candidates most closely demonstrating the qualifications for an interview.

Information technology regulatory examination experience at a commissioned or supervisor level
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
Depository regulatory training/classes in information technology.
Experience assessing IT controls, cybersecurity, and technology risk in depository financial institutions.
Experience planning and conducting IT examinations, documenting findings, and preparing reports with recommendations for depository financial institutions.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operatorâs license valid in the state of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this classification may be required to attend advanced formal training classes. The purpose of this training is to maintain professional, job-specific proficiency and current knowledge. Some training classes are out-of-state and may require overnight stays.
All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (LABOR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to LABOR/DUI as a result of unemployment overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.
