Financial Manager, Part Time (WMATA)

Velocity Talent is hiring a part time Financial Manager for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Office of the CFO. You'll give technical direction to a team of financial analysts and make sure their work is right before it reaches executives.

Schedule: about 10 steady hours a week for roughly a year (520 hours), contract.
Location: hybrid, with some daytime onsite work at an assigned WMATA site in Washington, DC, Alexandria, VA or New Carrollton, MD.

What you'll do

• Lead and provide technical direction to financial analysts working on budget, forecasting, cost and variance analysis
• Review Excel models, forecasts, analyses and executive presentations for accuracy, completeness and consistency
• Set up quality control practices, including peer review checklists, source documentation, assumption logs and standard templates
• Coordinate priorities, schedules and deliverables with WMATA CFO and budget staff
• Guide personnel cost modeling, revenue forecasting, cost benefit analysis, budget monitoring and long range planning
• Make sure every deliverable states its assumptions, risks, findings and recommendations clearly

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field
• 8+ years of progressively responsible financial management, budgeting, forecasting or analysis
• Experience leading or reviewing complex financial analysis and executive reporting
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling
• Strong leadership, quality assurance, communication and stakeholder management

Nice to have

• Master's degree
• PeopleSoft, Power BI or similar systems
• Public sector, transit, transportation or large organization finance experience
