Fire Alarm Project Field Supervisor

Position Summary

The Fire Alarm Project Field Supervisor oversees the day-to-day field activities for fire alarm installation, service, and retrofit projects. This role ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes, safety standards, and company policies. The Supervisor will coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams, providing technical guidance and leadership to field technicians.
 

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Oversight

  • Supervise and coordinate field crews for fire alarm installation, maintenance, and service projects.
  • Ensure work complies with NFPA codes, local fire regulations, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Manage daily schedules, work assignments, and project timelines.
  • Conduct on-site inspections to verify quality and progress.
 

Team Leadership & Training

  • Lead, mentor, and train field technicians on installation techniques, safety protocols, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing skills development sessions.
  • Provide performance feedback and support career growth for team members.
 

Client & Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for clients and general contractors.
  • Address client concerns, resolve issues, and ensure satisfaction with services provided.
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings and site coordination meetings.
 

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including work orders, change orders, and inspection reports.
  • Verify system functionality through commissioning and final acceptance testing.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company safety procedures.
 

Resource & Inventory Management

  • Coordinate delivery and staging of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Monitor project costs and minimize waste or rework.
  • Verify inventory levels and ensure proper handling of company assets.
 
 
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Fire Protection, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fire alarm systems installation/service, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
 

Certifications

  • NICET Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems preferred.
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification preferred.
  • Manufacturer certifications for major fire alarm systems (e.g., Notifier, Simplex, Siemens, EST) desirable.
 

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable building/fire codes.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and problem-solving in field environments. ● Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Work in a variety of settings including active construction sites and occupied facilities. ● Availability for on-call rotations, overtime, and travel to job sites.
