Fire Alarm Service Technician I

Chesapeake Fire Protection is looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Service Technician to inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm and life safety systems. This is a hands-on field role for someone who takes pride in quality work, solving problems, and building strong customer relationships.

️ What You'll Do

• Inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes.
• Diagnose system issues and complete timely, accurate repairs.
• Program, configure, and verify fire alarm control panels and related devices.
• Complete detailed service reports, inspection documentation, compliance forms, and corrective action records.
• Communicate with customers about system status, repairs, deficiencies, and code compliance.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Service Coordinators, and inspectors as needed.
• Maintain company tools, test equipment, and service vehicles.
• Follow all safety policies and job site requirements.
• Stay current on industry codes, technology, and certification requirements.
• Participate in on-call rotation and emergency service response.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of fire alarm or life safety service experience preferred.
• Technical training or certifications preferred.
• NICET Fire Alarm Systems certification preferred or required based on state.
• Strong working knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and local fire codes.
• Experience with fire alarm panels, devices, and testing equipment.
• Microsoft Office, smartphone, mobile service software, and basic computer skills.
• Familiarity with Notifier or equivalent systems preferred.
• Ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service.

• Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
• Ability to work at heights and in occupied buildings.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Field-based work at commercial, industrial, and multi-family properties.
• Exposure to varying weather, noise, and electrical environments.
• On-call rotation and occasional overtime required.
