Job Description

Miller Placement is recruiting an experienced Fire Alarm Service Technician for a full-time, direct-hire position with a confidential fire protection contractor serving the Portland metro area and Southwest Washington.

Pay: $50–$60 per hour, based on relevant experience and certifications. The top of the range is available for exceptional candidates. A company vehicle is provided, and technicians generally travel from home directly to customer sites.

The role

This is a hands-on technician role, with no management experience required. The work centers on service, troubleshooting, inspection and testing in commercial buildings and apartment communities, with installation, upgrades and commissioning as needed.

Diagnose fire alarm system faults, complete repairs and document your work.

Inspect and test systems, identify deficiencies and communicate clearly with customers.

Program fire alarm control panels (FACP) and work from blueprints and installation drawings.

Support related low-voltage life-safety systems.

Required for this opening

Five or more years of professional fire alarm experience.

Current NICET Level II (Level 2) or higher in a relevant fire alarm discipline.

Oregon Limited Energy Technician Class A (LEA) OR Washington limited-energy electrician certificate (06/EL06). You do not need both.

Practical panel programming, installation, troubleshooting and blueprint-reading experience.

Experience with IP-connected systems, radio or cellular communicators, estimating or project coordination is helpful. If you hold another Oregon or Washington electrical license, tell us its type so we can review the applicable scope.

Benefits

Company vehicle; medical, dental and vision coverage; 401(k) matching; vacation and paid holidays. Full offer terms, schedule and any on-call or travel requirements will be discussed during the hiring process.

Interested, or know someone who fits?

A resume is welcome but optional. Send a short note about your fire alarm experience and current credentials. Related low-voltage and life-safety technicians are welcome to introduce themselves, and referrals are welcome. The requirements above apply to appointment to this opening; we will review related experience individually.

The next step is a technical phone conversation, approximately one hour, about troubleshooting, panel programming, installation and reading plans. This is a recruiter-managed direct-hire search. The employer is confidential in the public advertisement.
