Job Summary

The Fire and Rescue Technician I (Firefighter/EMT) provides emergency medical services, firefighting, rescue operations, and fire prevention services to protect lives and property. The role responds to emergency incidents, operates firefighting and rescue equipment, delivers emergency medical care, participates in training, promotes public safety, and supports community emergency response operations while maintaining compliance with departmental procedures and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to fire, medical, rescue, and other emergency incidents.
  • Provide emergency medical care and basic life support services.
  • Perform firefighting, rescue, and hazard mitigation operations.
  • Operate and maintain firefighting, rescue, and EMS equipment.
  • Participate in fire prevention and public education activities.
  • Complete required training and maintain professional certifications.
  • Work assigned shifts and duty stations as required.
  • Maintain readiness for emergency response.
  • Follow department policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Perform other emergency response and operational duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the date of hire.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Ability to pass the written examination.
  • Ability to successfully complete the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).
  • Ability to pass polygraph, psychological, medical, and panel interview evaluations.
  • Ability to pass criminal background, driving record, education, and other required screenings.
  • Ability to work 24-hour shifts and perform physically demanding emergency response duties.
