About the Role:
St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran School in Annapolis, MD is looking for a passionate and dedicated First Grade Classroom Teacher to join their faith-based educational community. Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons aligned with first grade curriculum standards
- Foster a positive, faith-integrated classroom environment that supports social, emotional, and academic growth
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students
- Assess student progress through formal and informal evaluations and communicate results to parents
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, staff, and administration to support school-wide goals and initiatives
- Maintain an organized, safe, and welcoming classroom environment
- Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field required
- Valid Maryland State teaching certification preferred or eligibility to obtain one
- Prior experience teaching early elementary education preferred
- Strong understanding of early literacy, phonics, and foundational math instruction
- Commitment to integrating Lutheran Christian values into daily teaching practice
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to build meaningful relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
