POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION
The Fitness Instructor - Aquatics is responsible for providing instruction to participants of various ages and abilities for water fitness classes. Recreation staff have the primary responsibility of ensuring the safety of program participants.
The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
Essential Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks
Provides proper instruction of water fitness classes
Sets up and tears down class equipment provided by the center
Monitors heart rate of participants and provides proper warm-up and cool-down exercises
Incorporates strength building and cardio activities into the routine as appropriate for the intended purpose of a class
Interacts with class participants
Maintains regular and punctual attendance
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Maintains all required certifications
Attends scheduled staff meetings
Incumbent is accountable for all duties of this job, and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the Citys discretion.

Physical Requirements
Work performed is physical in nature and involves sufficient physical strength and stamina for:
WORKING CONDITIONS
Frequent exposure to pool water. Occasional lifting up to seventy-five (75) pounds and the possible lifting of an injured individual. Frequent exposure to noise levels that may cause distractions. High public contact position requiring adequate spoken interaction with the public and pool guests. Ability to work in a high humidity and heat environment for long periods.

Water fitness equipment such as belts, barbells, gloves, microphone, and stereo equipment
