Position purpose This purpose of this position is to provide oversight of a specific flight program at Heritage Flight Academy that affect Vaughn students in the Aircraft Operations program. This involves ensuring that our students are progressing through Heritage in an efficient way and reporting to the Vaughn Aviation Chair of any perceived issues that affects Vaughn students.. Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks 1) Conduct oversight and inspection of student flying at HFA. 2) Conduct monthly safety meetings and record minutes 3) Follow up on all safety issues. 4) Address all flight students concerns. 5) Ensure the students’ academic class requirements match academics to flight progress. 6) Visit HFA weekly to talk to students, chief pilot and manager. 7 Assess flight program to recommend improvements and maintain FAA requirements. 8) Ensure students schedule three (3) lessons per week in Flight Schedule Pro. 9) Counsel and document student progress. 10) Ensure class progress in appropriate Part 141 class matches flight training at Heritage. 11) Ensure students complete at least the appropriate Stage in the semester started and document their progress in D2L. 12) Attend Aviation Open Houses at both Vaughn and Heritage as necessary which may occur on weekends. **Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor’s degree in aviation or a related field. At least five years’ experience working with the FAA, commercial or military environment. At least five years’ experience working for an organization that involves involving flight training and/or inspections of aircraft and crew
The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skill. A complete knowledge of all FAA flight certifications, ground school requirements and written tests.
Ability to determine and report to the Chair of the Department the reasons behind reported issues at Heritage Flight School.
This position is at a flight school at ISP McArthur Airport and Vaughn College. Generally, an employee needs to be able to sit, stand, and navigate within the area. In addition, this position will require that the employee makes frequent visits to Heritage Flight Academy to visit with staff and students. Some work (D2L entries, email) from home will be necessary.
Salary: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour.
