THE WORK

Manage engineering research, design, development and action, and other technical and operational services to support electronic and mechanical devices used for training flying personnel under simulated flying conditions. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Direct development of specifications for flight simulators and related training equipment and ensure initial certification of the simulators. Oversee technical presentations to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), airlines, and vendors as required.

Long Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Flight Simulation Engineering Associate Manager to lead our multi-discipline team in the sustainment of C-130J Aircrew Training Devices. The successful candidate will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for fielded Aircrew and Maintenance Training Devices. Additionally, they will ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Lastly, they will perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Develops/delivers metrics to management and customers in order to support data-driven decisions. Develops/implements processes across the enterprise focusing on synergy, efficiency, and effectiveness. Tracks CDRL deadlines. Coordinates with responsible managers for timely delivery. Ensures proper documentation, and posting to proper repositories. Coordinates customer comments as necessary and rectifies deficiencies when needed.

Professional presentation skills, written communications and excellent computer skills required. Candidate must be familiar with Microsoft, Linux operating Systems as well standard Microsoft and Adobe applications, be a self-starter, a disciplined worker and have a professional reputation for integrity. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Leading Teams

As a Flight Simulation Engineering Associate Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of 15 - 30 employees, including sub-contractors. You will be expected to:

• Provide guidance and mentorship to team members to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their jobs effectively
• Foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the team
• Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including team members, vendors, and customers, to ensure that their needs are met, and expectations are exceeded

Key Responsibilities

• Solution Development: Direct the development of solutions for training systems and aircrew training devices.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Collaborate with vendors as needed to troubleshoot issues and develop solutions for user-reported issues and overall system functionality.
• Reporting and Analytics: Design custom reports and maintain dashboards, deploy processes, and report on the data/outcome of those processes when needed.
• Research and Evaluation: Research and evaluate relevant software and hardware technologies that have potential value for customers and stakeholders
• Quality Assurance: Conduct quality assurance checks of routine processes and specialized tasks

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or technical field
• 3+ years managing small-to-medium, geographically separated teams and projects
• 3+ years experience in Training System Sustainment
• 8+ years experience with Aircrew Training Devices (flight simulators)
• Ability to obtain DoD 8570 IAT Level II or III certification (i.e. Security+, CASP, CISSP) within 90-days of start date

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $80200.00 - $149000.00

• For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
