The Travel Cook position will be based at The Orchards At Southington, an Assisted Living Community. There are two other communities in Southington:

  • Southington Care Center (Skilled Nursing)
  • Mulberry Gardens (Assisted Living)

And two communities in Newington, CT

  • Cedar Mountain Commons (Assisted Living)
  • Jefferson House (Skilled Nursing)

The Travel Cook will support all locations by becoming familiar with their operations and filling in when needed.

Prepares food according to selected menus, approved recipes and production sheets with knowledge of quantity cooking. Complete the preparation of all food items in a timely manner and assure that all foods meet required serving temperatures. Utilizes creativity in garnishing, decorating and developing new recipes. Complies with stringent health, sanitation, safety, HACCP and food handling standards. Adheres to quality and cost containment standards. Reports to the Food Services Manager.

Qualifications

Qualifications - External

  • 1 year of cooking or 3 years of directly related food service experience equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English
  • Basic math required for recipe quantity calculations.
  • Ability to adjust recipe quantities based on census or volume.
  • Writing skills required for completing production records and documenting on logs and other reports.
  • Must be versatile and flexible to work at multiple locations and travel accordingly.

Full-time (40 hours)

Shift Details: Float Cook Position for travel to five Assisted Living Buildings in Southington and Newington. Every other weekend required. Shifts vary. 10:30AM-7PM/5AM-130PM
