Supervise, train, and coordinate kitchen staff, volunteers, and trainees as needed.

Ensure proper use, cleaning, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.

    Floating Coverage and Special Events

Travel between FGC Older Adult Centers as needed for operations and management assignments.

Provide temporary kitchen coverage when a Head Chef or other kitchen staff member is absent or when additional assistance is required.

Assist with meal preparation and service for special events, holiday parties, celebrations, and other center activities.

Support kitchens experiencing staffing shortages, increased meal production demands, or operational challenges.

Adapt to different kitchen layouts, equipment, staff, and daily routines while maintaining consistent service standards.

Coordinate with Program Directors and kitchen personnel to ensure smooth transitions and uninterrupted meal service.

Be available to work at different locations throughout Brooklyn, sometimes with limited advance notice.

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of one (1) year of experience cooking in a commercial kitchen.

Experience in institutional food service, community-based programs, or senior services preferred.

Previous supervisory or lead kitchen experience preferred.

Ability to prepare meals in large quantities while maintaining consistent quality and portion control.

Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in different kitchen environments.

Flexibility to travel between multiple Older Adult Centers throughout Brooklyn.

    Requirements

Ability to follow standardized recipes, menus, and food preparation instructions.

    Dependable attendance and punctuality.

Willingness and ability to report to different FGC locations as assigned.

Ability to adjust work assignments based on staffing needs, special events, and operational priorities.
