Forklift Driver/Material Handler Production 1st & 2nd Shift

Job Purpose

The forklift driver/material handler drives electric forklift to transport packaging and ingredient materials throughout the plant to support production efforts; also produces finished goods, wraps pallets and loads trucks.

Essential Functions

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

• Responsible to adhere to company human safety policies and procedures.
• Responsible to adhere to company food safety, quality and regulatory practices and procedures.
• Properly load and unload freight using a forklift, pallet jack, hand jack or by hand; while ensuring maintenance of an orderly dock area.
• Generate Pick Sheets and adhere to FIFO.
• Deliver ingredients and packaging in a timely manner to ensure seamless production runs.  
• Document and communicate load discrepancies with Quality.
• Maintain accurate and legible records/documentation, including trailer inspections.
• Utilize RFID technology (Scanners and WMS programs) to move material systematically as it is physically moved throughout the facility.
• Inspect forklift daily and notify maintenance of vehicular issues.
• Assisting other departments as needed and performing related duties as assigned.
• Must attend all company required training.

Abilities

• Maintain respectful communication with coworkers at all levels within the organization
• Ability to problem-solve equipment and processes in partnership with maintenance
• Ability to determine root causes for mistakes/concerns and diligently apply corrective action 
• Ability to read, write, and speak English, Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred
• Basic math and computer skills
