PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A HIGHLY PHYSICAL DUAL-ROLE! This is not an "all-day cab sit." You will operate large 10,000–12,000 lb sit-down propane forklifts to stage massive lumber packages, while constantly mounting and dismounting the lift throughout your shift to physically pull, measure, carry, bundle, and band dimensional lumber orders by hand. If you bring heavy forklift chops, heavy lifting power, and strong spatial safety awareness, let's get you in the yard!
Description for Heavy Lumber Forklift Operator / Order Picker:
- Safely operate heavy-capacity 10,000–12,000 lb sit-down propane forklifts to transport, stack, and stage oversized timber packages and dimensional lumber units.
- Fulfill customer, contractor, and freight orders by frequently mounting and dismounting the lift to manually pick, verify, bundle, and band lumber products.
- Load and unload flatbed trailers, curtain vans, and commercial freight trucks cleanly with zero product or equipment damage.
- Perform precision cross-cuts on dimensional lumber using industrial chop saws according to specific order tickets.
- Accurately measure lumber lengths, tally units, read job work orders, and verify stock using a standard tape measure.
- Organize storage bays, maintain proper dunnage placement, clear yard debris, and assist with general yard labor duties.
- Strictly adhere to yard traffic patterns, pedestrian clearance rules, and comprehensive industrial safety standards.

- Pay Rate: $19.00 – $21.00 / hour (DOE) + Overtime earning potential!
- Schedule: Full-Time Monday – Friday (Consistent weekday schedule with weekends OFF unless overtime is required).
- Shift: Graveyard / Night Shift (Exact shift hours TBD).
- Location: Tacoma, WA yard facility.
- Position Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire career pathway.
Requirements for Heavy Lumber Forklift Operator / Order Picker:
- FORKLIFT REQUIREMENT: Verifiable experience operating heavy-capacity 10,000–12,000 lb sit-down propane forklifts.
- Industry Background: Previous experience working in a lumber yard, building materials distribution center, or industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
- Freight Handling: Proven ability to maneuver long dimensional timber, wide units, and unstable freight across busy yard lanes.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to consistently lift, carry, and maneuver 50–75 lbs unassisted; comfortable with continuous mounting/dismounting, bending, stooping, and walking on yard surfaces throughout an entire shift.
- Measurement & Tools: Confident tape measure literacy and basic math skills; chop saw cutting experience is preferred.
- Exceptional history of prompt night-shift punctuality, dependable daily attendance, and reliable transportation.
