Founding Design Engineer (UX)

About the Role

As the Founding Design Engineer (UX), you will be the first design hire and play a critical role in defining the user experience for our product. You will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and implementing user interfaces across our web and mobile applications, ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience for our users. This role combines the best of both worlds: UX design and front-end engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own the End-to-End UX Design Process: Take charge of user research, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity design for all user interfaces.
  
• Front-End Development: Collaborate with the engineering team to implement your designs using front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React or Angular.
  
• Create Design Systems: Develop and maintain a design system to ensure a consistent look and feel across the product.
  
• User Testing and Feedback: Conduct user testing sessions, gather feedback, and iterate on designs to improve usability and user satisfaction.
  
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align design with business and technical requirements.
  
• Brand Identity and Visual Design: Contribute to the development of the company's brand identity and visual design, including marketing assets, website, and other customer-facing materials.
  

Requirements

• 3+ Years of UX Design Experience: Experience designing and implementing user interfaces for web or mobile applications.
  
• Proficiency in Design Tools: Skilled in tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar for wireframing and prototyping.
  
• Front-End Development Skills: Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience using frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  
• User-Centric Design Philosophy: Passion for creating intuitive, user-friendly experiences that solve real problems.
  
• Ability to Work in a Startup Environment: Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to wear multiple hats.
  
• Excellent Communication Skills: Able to present and justify design decisions clearly.
  

Bonus Skills

• Experience with Mobile Design and Development.
  
• Knowledge of Back-End Technologies (Node.js, Python, etc.).
  
• Familiarity with Accessibility Standards and Best Practices.
  
• Understanding of Design Systems and Component Libraries.
