Location: on-site in either Warren, MI or Austin, TX 4 days per week

GM plans to convert right at the 6 month mark. Please make sure candidates are comfortable with conversion to full time employment after 6 months on contract.

We are needing candidates who have strong experience in front end development with React.JS and have working, hands on experience with Azure and Databricks.

Front-End Application Developer, Databricks & Azure
Position Overview
We are seeking a contractor to design, build, and deploy modern front-end applications that make data and analytics accessible to business and technical users. This role combines front-end engineering with data application development in a Databricks and Microsoft Azure environment.
The ideal candidate has strong experience with React and Python-based application frameworks such as FastAPI, Dash, and Streamlit, along with the ability to connect applications to Databricks data products, APIs, and services. The contractor will also be responsible for packaging, deploying, and supporting applications in Kubernetes environments.

Key Responsibilities

Develop responsive, intuitive, and production-ready web applications using React, JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
Build interactive data applications, dashboards, and workflow tools using Dash and Streamlit.
Integrate front-end applications with Databricks data, SQL warehouses, notebooks, jobs, REST APIs, and other enterprise data services.
Develop Python services and application back ends using FastAPI or similar frameworks to support data retrieval, business logic, authentication, and data visualization.
Design reusable components, application patterns, and user experiences that can be adopted across multiple data products.
Implement data visualizations, filters, drilldowns, forms, and other interactive features for business and operational use cases.
Deploy applications to Kubernetes, including containerization with Docker, Kubernetes manifests or Helm charts, configuration management, secrets, ingress, service discovery, and health checks.
Deploy and operate applications in Azure, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) where applicable.
Establish or contribute to CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, container builds, security checks, and application deployment.
Apply front-end engineering best practices, including responsive design, accessibility, performance optimization, state management, error handling, and maintainable code structure.

Collaborate with data engineers, analytics teams, product owners, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into usable applications.
Troubleshoot application, integration, deployment, and performance issues across the front-end, data, and Kubernetes layers.
Produce technical documentation for application architecture, deployment procedures, configuration, and operational support.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated experience developing production-quality front-end applications with React.
Strong proficiency with JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern front-end development practices.
Hands-on experience building data applications or dashboards with Dash and/or Streamlit.
Strong Python development skills, including experience building FastAPI services, application back ends, and API integrations.
Experience working with Databricks, including Databricks SQL, SQL warehouses, notebooks, jobs, or related platform capabilities.
Experience developing and consuming REST APIs and integrating applications with enterprise data platforms.
Hands-on experience containerizing applications with Docker.
Demonstrated ability to deploy and support applications on Kubernetes; experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) is strongly preferred.
Experience with Kubernetes resources and deployment concepts, including pods, deployments, services, ingress, config maps, secrets, namespaces, and health probes.
Experience working in Microsoft Azure environments and with Azure-based identity, networking, storage, or monitoring services.
Experience with Git-based source control, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently as a contractor in a cross-functional environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience integrating React applications with Python services, Dash, Streamlit, or Databricks-backed APIs.
Experience with TypeScript, React component libraries, state management, and front-end testing frameworks.
Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or similar Python web frameworks.
Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar CI/CD platforms.
Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, Azure Entra ID, role-based access control, and enterprise application security.

Experience with observability tools, application logging, metrics, tracing, and production support.
Familiarity with data visualization libraries such as Plotly, D3.js, or comparable tools.
Experience delivering applications for manufacturing, supply chain, planning, operations, or other enterprise data use cases.
